Clinical Sport Psychology Services
Clinical Sport Psychology Services
At the Personal Counseling Center, our primary focus is on providing individualized therapy services, tailored to meet the personalized needs of each student. We understand the unique challenges and pressures student-athletes face, both on and off the performance setting, and the clinical sport psychology services are committed to meet that need. Our services combine specialization and expertise in general mental health, student-athlete specific mental health, and performance psychology.
Mission
The PCC Sport Psychology team is dedicated to supporting the mental health, well-being, and performance excellence of PC student-athletes while empowering coaches and teams through consultation, education, and holistic intervention services. By combining evidence-based practices, culturally responsive care, and innovative approaches, we aim to cultivate mental resilience, promote well-being, and foster a thriving community of athletes, coaches, and staff.
Vision
Our vision is to become a leader in collegiate sport psychology by seamlessly integrating our mental health services, mental performance training, and coach consultation/education into the fabric of PC Athletics. We strive to create a culture where mental wellness is prioritized alongside athletic achievement, and where athletes and coaches are equipped with the skills and resources to excel both inside and outside their performance domain. Through collaborative efforts, evidence-based strategies, culturally responsive care, and ongoing innovation, we aim to set a new standard for holistic athlete and coach development.
Values
The PCC Sport Psychology program is guided by these core values:
- Inclusivity: Ensure access to equitable, culturally responsive mental health and performance support for all
- Integrity: Uphold ethical standards and build trust through confidentiality and professionalism
- Collaboration: Partner with athletes, coaches, and staff to co-create individualized mental health and performance services
- Resilience: Foster skills that promote persistence and adaptability under pressure
- Innovation: Embrace emerging technologies and creative solutions to advance mental health, well-being, and performance in collegiate athletics
Clinical Sport Psychology services are offered to all varsity student-athletes, but that does not mean that student-athletes can only work with a sport psychology clinician. Student-athletes have access and commonly work with the wide range of different Personal Counseling Center clinicians; student-athletes may choose to receive clinical sport psychology services because of the specialization and experience in working with student-athletes in areas of both mental health and performance psychology. All clinicians in the Personal Counseling Center are trained in and provide affirmative therapy to all student-athletes.
